This is a paradise for hiking and Healthy Hiking, running, Nordic Walking and mountain biking. The lake itself is a fisherman’s dream, particularly in spring and autumn. In summer, the crystal-clear, turquoise-coloured waters of the lake reach a temperature of up to 24 degrees Celsius and are ideal for swimming, surfing, diving and canoeing. Every hotel and pension has its own beach for guests – this is unique in Austria.

Two thirds of the lakeshore remain untouched by tourism development. There is no traffic, and motorboats are also forbidden. Mass tourism is still an alien concept at Lake Weissensee. The region has been granted the European Award for Tourism and Environment and also carries the title "Heilklimatischer Luftkurort" (Healthy Climate Resort).

The comprehensive offer of the region was integrated within the Fitness Natural Park. All routes were re-measured and marked and signposted in different colours.
